Training Tips & Resources
Starting at just 3 days of age we start ENS Training which is part of Puppy Culture Curriculum. The puppy culture curriculum is a great breeder resource providing a comprehensive guide covering the most important and powerful first 12 weeks of a puppy's life that will shape your puppy's future. We provide all of our adopters with Puppy Culture training resources for free to continue to work on at home.

When your puppy reaches 4 months of age and has had all their puppy vaccinations, we recommend an obedience class. I can’t recommend this training enough. It will set your puppy up for life! Petsmart has great puppy obedience classes. For further training such as Service or Therapy work I recommend Dog Training Elite. We have used them for two of our dogs which completed the service dog program. If going to in person training classes is hard for you, I recommend Baxter and Bella or the Good Dog Puppy Training Program which is free to you for any of our puppies. In order to receive the Good Dog Puppy Training for free, you must complete the puppy purchase via Good Dog. Baxter & Bella is a lot like what Good Dog’s Online Training Program provides with additional resources available such as preparing your puppy to pass the CGC Exam to become certified. They can help with potty training, socialization, kennel training and much more. Baxter & Bella have videos, PDF’s and you can schedule private video lessons and or telephone calls with a lifetime membership. This is a fabulous resource to have. The content they have on their website is immense. We feel this is a great investment in your puppy. Use code BLUESKYDOGS for 25% OFF the Lifetime Membership (reg. $238; $178.50 with the discount code).
Your puppy will go home to you with a few basic commands, such as sit. The recall command is another command we work on and is most likely the most important command you will ever need with your puppy. It can save your puppies life. When you are doing the recall command at home make sure use a training treat. We have found that hot dogs work great, just be sure not to let them have too many. TINY little bits work best. You don't want them having a full meal while learning the recall command, you want to leave them wanting more. That goes with any command. When working with the puppies for the recall command please do not use their name…. just use the command “Here”, “Come” or “Puppy”. Before you begin your first lesson, get your dog’s favorite treat or a toy and a clicker. Clickers are used to mark when your dog has successfully completed the desired behavior. If you don’t want to use the clicker for the recall command or don’t have one, you can use a vocal mark, like “Yes” or “Good dog,” instead of the clicker. Just make sure to use your voice marks consistently. We do include a clicker all our puppy go home packages.

Here is an educational video on how to teach your puppy to use the Potty Bells.
Items needed: Potty Bells, clicker and training treats.
Potty Bells are great to teach your puppy to use especially if you do not have a doggy door to let themselves out.
